Our gymnastics unit will run from April 2-11. We will begin with safety routines, mat/floor work, then followed by the introduction to larger equipment. We are fortunate to own some gymnastics equipment and teachers have volunteered to attend workshops to prepare themselves for teaching this unit.
Throughout the year, teachers have provided students with a variety of experiences to establish safe play, promote cooperation, and good sportsmanship.
Within all of our Phys- Ed units, children have many opportunities to develop their individual skill level, share their accomplishments and experience the satisfaction of teamwork in a safe and non-threatening atmosphere.
Student Expectations:
* No jewelry, loose clothing, skirts or dresses
* Bare feet, running shoes or gymnastics slippers are acceptable
* Tie back long hair, please send your child to school with a hair tie if needed
* Students work independently or in small groups quietly (avoid distracting others)
* Students do what they are comfortable doing. No showing off or daring is allowed
* Students must land on their seat on the crash mat
* Although some students have had private gymnastics training, there will be no aerial stunts such as dive rolls, somersaults (flips), head springs or handsprings, or pyramids
Safety is very important at Sundance School. Students must conduct themselves in a cooperative and safe manner. Please review these expectations at home with your child to help them better understand the importance we stress about safety.
Thank you.
