Dear Sundance families,

It has been so nice to welcome students back to school and see the joy of reconnecting over this past week. Our classrooms have been filled with energy as students reunited with friends, spent time with their teachers, and settled back into familiar routines.

This first week back has been an important time for rebuilding relationships, strengthening our sense of community, and easing back into learning together. We appreciate your support as students transition from the winter break and re-establish their school rhythms.

Are you returning? Please check your email for a message sent on Thursday, January 8, asking if child/ren are returning to Sundance School to help us plan for 2026-2027. This online questionnaire will only take a couple of minutes of your time and should be returned on or before Friday, January 16, 2026, one form per child. Thank you.

Registration for 2026-2027 begins on January 12, 2026. If you currently have a child attending Sundance School in Kindergarten to Grade 5 AND will be submitting an online registration for a NEW child to join us next year, we must link siblings and assign the correct priority level BEFORE the lottery is drawn on February 11, 2026. This is especially important if a child has a different last name than a currently enrolled student. If this scenario pertains to your family, please email sundance@cbe.ab.ca with subject line “Requested Sibling Information" and add the following:

• Legal name and grade of child(ren) currently attending Sundance School in Kindergarten to Grade 5 inclusive
• Legal name and grade of child(ren) wanting to attend Sundance School for the 2026-2027 school year
• Home address

The CBE defines siblings as brothers or sisters (including half or step siblings, but not cousins). Foster children are also considered siblings, provided they reside at the same address.

Ongoing Bottle Depot Fundraiser: Anytime you are planning to return bottles for recycling, the Playground Committee would be extremely grateful if you would consider donating them to support our playground.

Bottles can be dropped off all year long at Walden Bottle Depot, 19618 Walden Blvd, SE and credited to Sundance Elementary Playground Account.

The next Sundog Snack, (Out of Chaos Cookies), will take place on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

Deadline for ordering is Thursday, January 22, 2026, using a Healthy Hunger account.

The Monday/Wednesday Kindergarten classes will receive their orders on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Virtual School Council/Parent Association Meeting: Parents/guardians are invited to join us virtually on January 20, 2026, for the Sundance School Council and Parents Association (SPA).
