Dear Sundance Families,
One of the greatest strengths of our school is the way we come together as a community. Over the past couple of weeks, it has been wonderful to see families connecting with one another, with our staff, and with our school. Our Open House was a special opportunity to meet teachers, explore classrooms, and share in the excitement of a new year of learning.
I want to extend heartfelt thanks for the many ways you have already supported our school this fall. From welcoming our new Kindergarten families at Tears and Cheers, to gathering as a community at the Welcome Back Picnic, each event has helped strengthen our connections.
We are also so grateful for your support of our fundraisers, including the Bottle Drive for our new playground, the Bake Sale in support of the Grade 6 Farewell and Mme H’s Scholastic Book Fair.
These moments remind us that when we connect with one another, we build a strong foundation for our students’ learning, growth, and sense of belonging. Thank you for making Sundance such a warm and welcoming place for all.
Thank you to our School Council for providing a pizza dinner for our teachers at our Open House. We are grateful for your generosity.

Terry Fox Run: The 2025 Terry Fox School Run is set for this month, and we are so excited to be taking part! Our event will take place on Friday, September 19 from 8:10-8:45am. This event supports vital cancer research while also building incredible school spirit for our students. Sundance students will be participating in activities during Physical Education classes, Health, or Language classes to help create awareness and be inspired by Terry’s experience and goals.
The Terry Fox Foundation has created an online fundraising page customized for Sundance School. If you wish to donate, please visit the link. We kindly ask that no cash donations are sent to the school. Receipts are issued immediately to donors by email from the Terry Fox Foundation. You may share our school’s donation link with family and friends.
We are asking for some volunteers to assist at the event. Please use the sign-up if you are able to help. Note: a valid police clearance and the Annual Volunteer Registration Form submitted are both required to be able to volunteer. Information may be found on the CBE website.

Bus Zones : Please be aware that our signed bus zones are in front of the school and just past the marked pedestrian crosswalk with lights. With increased enrolment, we are using the entire bus-zone area and remind families to park away from this area.

Casino Fundraiser, October 24/25, 2025: We are still in urgent need of volunteers for our upcoming Casino at The Deerfoot Inn and Casino (11500 35 St SE #1000, Calgary, AB T2C 0J4). This casino is our single largest fundraiser of the year and directly supports resources and opportunities for all students at the school. Please consider signing up for a shift today. Sundance School Casino Committee
School Council and Parent Association Meeting: We invite you to join us on September 16 at 6:30 pm for the Sundance School Council and Parents Association (SPA) meeting. You have the option to attend either in person at the School or virtually using the provided Teams link.
You may find the agenda and the link to join the meeting on the Sundance School website.
In addition to the outlined agenda, School Council and Parents Association are pleased to share updates from within Sundance School by Mme Melanie, Principal, and Mme Heather, Assistant Principal.
The Grade 2 teachers will also be presenting a showcase of learning.
