Dear Sundance families
Welcome back to a new school year at Sundance School! We are so excited to begin another year of learning, growing, and connecting. At Sundance, we believe that our strength comes from community. It is the way we care for one another, celebrate each child, and build a sense of belonging. Each connection we make, whether big or small, helps our students feel seen, valued, and supported. We are also deeply mindful of the land we learn on. By spending time outdoors, exploring nature, and appreciating the beauty around us, we strengthen our connection to the land and to each other. These connections remind us that learning is not only about knowledge, but also about relationships, respect, and care. As we begin this school year, we wish your family joy, curiosity, and many moments of connection. Together, let’s make 2025–2026 a year filled with growth, kindness, and community.
Before School Supervision
• Supervision is provided from 7:45 am outside and at 7:55am students the bell rings for students to enter the building, via their class entry doors, for a soft start. Instruction begins promptly at 8:00 am
• Please note there is no supervision of the play equipment from 7:45 – 7:55 am as students are given other opportunities to use the equipment throughout the week under the supervision of their teachers and lunchroom supervisors
• It is important to establish healthy routines in the morning and arrive promptly before instruction begins at 8:00 am. Should your child arrive after 8:00 am please enter through the front door and remind them to check in as a late arrival at the office
Drop Off/ Pick Up
• Please be aware that the Bus Zone in front of the school is reserved for bus drop off and pick up only. If you are walking your child to an outside entrance, there is parking available outside Sundance Lake or further south on Sunmills Drive
• Parking and drop-off/pick-up is not permitted in the Staff Parking Lot or in the Bus Zone. We also remind families not to walk in the staff car park and to please use the sidewalk. Please help us keep all our students and families safe.
Reporting Absences/lates
• We kindly ask that all absences are reported using the automated phone system. The 403 777 8690 ext 1 number is available 24 hours a day. Emails or notes to teachers may not be seen during instructional time. A phone call home is made when students are absent without notification
Change to end of day plans
• If your child usually rides the yelllow school bus home, but has a change to that routine, parents are reminded to call the office before 2:00 pm (11:15 on Fridays) so we can update our bus attendance sheet and not delay the buses leaving
From Sundance School Council/Parents Association:
New Playground Bottle Drive Fundraiser: We are kicking off this year's playground fundraising with a bottle drive! As you come to the school for the Welcome Back Picnic, we invite you to bring in bottles for our playground fundraiser. We will have a trailer parked in the road in front of the school, if the trailer isn't open please leave the bags beside the trailer. Don't forget to stop by and check out the exciting playground design on display before heading to your child’s classroom.
Thank you for your support
