Dear Sundance families,

As we move through June and look ahead to summer break, there is still plenty of important learning happening each day at Sundance. Students continue to build their skills, strengthen friendships, and contribute to our caring school community.

This month is filled with exciting activities and opportunities to celebrate learning together. To help students make the most of these experiences, we encourage families to maintain strong routines at home, including a good night's sleep, arriving at school on time, and being ready to learn each day.

Please also take a moment to check our Lost and Found, as many items are still waiting to be reunited with their owners.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we finish the school year strong and continue taking care of one another.

2026-2027 School Calendar(s): Our 2026-2027 Grade 1-6 and Kindergarten School Calendars have been approved and may be found on our school website. The pdf documents are published under 'Related Information'.

Transportation in 2026-2027: Currently, transportation services have received registrations for about 50% of bus eligible students for the 2026/27 school year. If you wish to access transportation next year, please register by the June 14 deadline to be included in planning, so your child can start riding the school bus at the beginning of the school year. Registrations received after the deadline are not guaranteed to have a bus stop assigned to them for the first day of school and may have a 6-8 week wait before they are assigned to a bus stop. Register for busing here.

Funding Update for 2026-27 school year: We are pleased to inform you that Sundance School has been allocated 1 additional teaching position for the 2026–27 school year through the Government of Alberta’s Class Size Reduction Grant.

This grant funds teaching positions that support improved learning conditions in Kindergarten to Grade 9 classrooms.

This funding is specifically intended to help reduce class sizes in core subject areas with priority given to schools experiencing the greatest class size pressures and greater support for diverse learning needs.

At Sundance, this additional teacher will be used to support our grade 3 cohort to ensure students benefit from increased teacher attention, improved classroom learning environments, and greater support for diverse learning needs.

We remain committed to supporting strong learning environments for all students and using our resources thoughtfully and strategically.

Cross Country Run: Students who are part of the Cross-Country Running Club and have been training since the beginning of May, will have the opportunity to participate in a friendly 1 km race on Wednesday, June 17, at 1:00pm. This event will be happening on the school grounds.

We are in need of 6-7 Volunteers. Duties will include marking the route with pylons, distributing the medals, and assisting with distributing the snack. Volunteers are to meet at the back of the school at 12:30pm to assist with set up.

Please use the sign up if you are available to help. A valid police clearance and annual paperwork completed are required.

Field Day, Tuesday, June 23, 2026: All students will take place in our Field Day on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Time: 8:00-11:30am

There will be a variety of 10 activity stations created by teachers, Loop A for KD - Gr 2 and Loop B for Gr 3-6. Each class will have the opportunity to visit each station for their division loop.

We kindly ask that students bring:

We are in need of parent volunteers to help make the morning a success. Please use the sign-up if you are available to help.
