Dear Sundance families,
We were honoured to welcome Elder Saa'kokoto to our school this week. He spent time visiting with many of our classes, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to listen to his stories and learn from his wisdom.
Elder Saa'kokoto shared meaningful teachings about kindness and respect for one another, for the land, and for ourselves. He spoke about the changes we see in the seasons and the lunar moon cycles, helping students understand how closely connected we are to the natural world. He also shared the story of his name and reminded us of the importance of being proud of who we are.
As a member of the Blackfoot Nation and an important part of our Sundance community, Elder Saa'kokoto brings knowledge and perspective that enriches our learning in powerful ways. We are thankful for his time, his teachings, and the relationships we continue to build together.
End of Day Dismissal Changes: Please inform the school as early as possible if your child will be picked up instead of riding the bus.
If you are planning an early pickup, advance notice is appreciated so we can try to have your child prepared. The office is very busy at the end of the day, and locating students and teachers on short notice can be challenging.
Thank you for your cooperation in supporting a safe and orderly dismissal process.
Use of Personal Mobile Devices in School for K-9 Students: CBE’s “Away for the Day” guidelines apply to K-9 students and align with Ministerial Order #014/2024: Standards for the Use of Peronsal Mobile Devices and Social Media in Schools.
Personal mobile devices brought to school must be powered off or set to silent mode and stored out of sight in student lockers, backpacks, or other designated areas. Personal Mobile Devices are any personal electronic device that can be used to communicate with or access the internet, such as a cellphone, tablet, gaming device, laptop, or smartwatch. This also may include devices capable of communicating with a PMD (e.g. Bluetooth devices) such as headphones, earbuds, or smart speakers. Communication to and from home is always through the office.
