Dear Sundance families,
Yesterday, many of our students spent time with Elder Saa’kokoto, listening to stories and learning Blackfoot words.
Together, we talked about our connection to one another, to the land that surrounds our school, and to the animals who share this place with us.
Students reflected on the changes we notice during the winter season and were reminded of the importance of pausing to be mindful and aware of our surroundings to truly experience the beauty of the land, Na’a. It was a meaningful moment of learning, reflection, and gratitude.
The visit also sparked memories of last year’s incredible experience with the Opera and Piita, the eagle, reminding us how powerful learning can be when stories, culture, and lived experiences come together.
We are grateful for these opportunities to learn from Elder Saa’kokoto and to continue building respect, understanding, and connection within our school community.
Jump Rope for Heart: On February 3, at 1:30pm, a team of Grade Six students will kick off the Jump Rope for Heart campaign in an assembly to help share awareness and care for healthy hearts! This event teaches our students the importance of giving back and encourages them to learn the easy healthy habits, so they understand the importance of staying active, eating well and taking care of their heart and brain health.
The funds our school raises will help support important heart and brain research funded by The Heart & Stroke Foundation. Let's work together as a school community and show how generous we can be! Our event runs from February 3 - 26, 2026. Students will participate in skipping activities during their gym classes, showing support for Health and Stroke research and appreciation to the people for their donations!
