Be a Good Ancestor. Laisse un bel héritage

Dear Sundance families

As we head into the long weekend, take time to spend together as a family. Whether with family or friends, this is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, rest, and make lasting memories. In the busyness of school, work, activities, and daily routines, long weekends provide a valuable opportunity to reconnect.

Take time to step outside and enjoy the beauty of the fall. The changing leaves, crisp air, and natural spaces around us remind us to pause, be present, and appreciate the season. Wishing everyone a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable long weekend.

Join us for our upcoming Welcome Back Fall Assembly, led by Mme Melanie and Mme Heather, as we come together to celebrate the start of a new school year.

When: Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 9:00am

Inspired by the book Be a Good Ancestor/ Laisse un bel héritage, students will explore how the choices we make today can help create a caring, respectful, and inclusive future for our school community.

During the assembly, we will introduce our teachers and staff, reference the CBE's Student Code of Conduct, and our shared expectations for learning and belonging to celebrate the importance of treating one another with kindness and respect.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Parent Resources: Parents and guardians are invited to join us for the Child & Youth Well-Being Family & Caregiver Series; live online sessions focused on supporting child and youth well-being. Hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with experts from the Calgary community, this year's sessions will explore a range of timely topics.

Student well-being supports learning and success. As students navigate challenges that are connected to mental health and well-being, we have an opportunity to strengthen belonging, build skills, and ensure access to responsive support.

The sessions are designed to equip families with the knowledge, tools and strategies to navigate the challenges and opportunities of raising children and teens today.

Some of the topics being covered include:

  • Technology and Mental Health
  • School Avoidance
  • Understanding ADHD in Girls
  • Vaping
  • And more

Sessions are free and provide information, resources, helplines, and services to support healthy child and youth development.
