Be a Good Ancestor. Laisse un bel héritage.
Welcome to a brand-new school year at Sundance! It was incredible to see our hallways filled with happy smiles.
As we begin this year together, we are inspired by the message in the beautiful book Be a Good Ancestor: the choices we make today can create a positive ripple that reaches far beyond us.
The beginning of a school year is the perfect time to think about the kind of community we want to create together. A smile in the hallway, inviting someone to play, learning someone’s name, helping a classmate, listening with kindness, or simply noticing when someone needs a friend. These small actions can make a big difference.
For some of us, this year brings a new classroom, new routines, new teachers, or new friends. It can take time to feel settled and find our place.
As Sundancers, we have the opportunity to leave our classrooms, our school, and each other a little better than we found them. What kind of ripple will you create this year?
Let’s make this a year filled with connection, courage, kindness, curiosity, and belonging. We are so happy to begin this journey together.
